What TaxMate is

TaxMate is a bookkeeping and tax-organisation app for UK sole traders, combined with tax return preparation and filing carried out by a qualified accountant. The app is provided by JJPlatform Studio; the accountancy work is carried out by your assigned accountant under the engagement letter you sign during setup, which governs that professional relationship.

Estimates are not advice

Tax figures shown in the app are automatic estimates to help you plan. They are not financial or tax advice and may differ from your final position. Your actual return is prepared and checked by your accountant before anything is filed.

Fees

A one-time onboarding and setup fee (currently £99) is payable when you join, covering identity verification, accountant setup and your engagement letter. The subscription (currently £15/month) covers the app and, provided your subscription remains in good standing through the tax year, preparation and filing of your Self Assessment. Your return is filed only if your subscription payments are up to date. If a payment fails we retry automatically and your account switches to read-only — your data is never held hostage.

Cooling off and cancellation

You may cancel within 14 days of signing up for a full refund of the onboarding fee, provided no filing work has begun. After that, you can cancel the subscription at any time; it stops at the end of the paid month. On cancellation you can export all of your data, and deletion works as described in the privacy policy.

Your responsibilities

Keep your login and authenticator device secure; give honest, complete information (your accountant files based on what you provide); and use the service only for your own lawful business records.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, our total liability to you in any year is limited to the amounts you paid us in that year. Your accountant's professional liability for the tax return itself is covered by their professional indemnity insurance under your engagement letter.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes belong to the courts of England and Wales.
